About me
Billy Fraser- Born a long long time ago… in Arbroath, Scotland, began playing piano and Scottish bagpipes when 9 years old and was a member of several school pipebands. Played both intruments in a 3 member band for a while in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire, Rainpals in & around central Scotland, whilst also playing around many pubs and clubs in the 80’s & 90’s! Played in several bands and played with Lisa Fury (the singer, not the wrestler!), and Paul “Rattlesnake” Smith and others…..moved to Norway permanently in 2005 for a new life, tranquility, snow, mountain air, Fiords etc. Member of a band in Hedmark, Norway called “Celtic Connections”…Irish, Scottish, Folk songs, and some of my own tunes! Have played bagpipes on many occasions for weddings, parties, funerals, and for various church audiences. LIFE influences certainly included 11 years in Private Boarding schools in Scotland, extremely long working hours to pay the “bills”, and a continuing attempt to record MY SONGS! My Korg Triton Pro X piano has been my mainstay instrument with it’s excellent sounds, 8 track recording/sequencer: great for composing songs & melodies and coming up with ideas. Grew up with Sound of Music, Oliver, Oklahoma, T Rex, Slade, Gilbert O Sullivan, “Michael Jackson”, Genesis, Phil Collins, Sir Elton John, Mike Oldfield (Oh Ommadawn my first LP! ), Supertramp, ….folk, rock, ballad, Scottish, Irish..aye the list goes on. Billy Fraser Melody.com is basically divided into 3 main categories
1. Singing Songs.
2. Scottish/Celtic tunes, incl. bagpipes.
3. Instrumental Melodies.
……some are recorded by myself at home…I have used a Yamaha AW4416 and now also have Steinberg’s Cubase 11 Pro at home.
……some in Stange by Øystein Håkonsen (yes: the successful Norwegian band RETURN)
…and others by the very talented guitarist, Bjørn Hagen (band: FUEL). My special thanks goes to Bjørn Hagen for his excellent recording help & advice, engineering, musical & orchestrating skills. Superb guitar skills-second to none.
I am currently working with “Celtic Connections”, “Scottish Twist” and Billy Fraser songs. I plan to do a lot more recording in the next years. I played the pipes for Stange’s memorial day for 22/7/ 2011, my bagpipe melody “Now they’re Gone”. Superbly mixed and recorded and guitaring by again
